The mission of GMC is to provide comprehensive, high quality primary care services to adults, and to provide an excellent teaching environment for students and residents at UCSF.
The General Medical Center (GMC) at San Francisco General Hospital is an ambulatory care facility providing comprehensive primary care and medical specialty services to persons over eighteen years of age. Resident physicians work closely with UCSF faculty to ensure the highest level of care for our patients. Patients are seen for purposes of receiving primary medical care or on referral to specialty clinics for evaluation of severe pathology resistant to standard care.
Primary medical care is provided in the General Medical Clinic (located in the 1M clinic in the SFGH main campus building) with ten half-day clinics each week, and five medical screening clinic sessions are held each week. Medical specialty care includes cardiology, dermatology, renal, rheumatology, chest, diabetes, endocrine, pain consultation, and behavioral medicine.
